The Fall 2026 issue of Horse Health Lines, news publication for the Western College of Veterinary Medicine’s (WCVM) Townsend Equine Health Research Fund, is now online.

Here’s a quick look at the stories inside this issue.

Dr. Claire Card: distinguished professor. After decades of supporting the lives of animals and people, WCVM professor Dr. Claire Card has reached a milestone achievement in her career that spans nearly four decades.

Nurturing horse health. Horse health-focused scientists and graduate students at the WCVM will receive more than $177,400 to support the college’s equine health research projects and specialized training over the next 12 months.

Peak posture. An artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to assess ergonomic risks may help large animal veterinarians stay healthy — and longer — on the job.

Planned gift inspired by love of animals. Dr. June Donaldson’s relationship with the WCVM began in 2024 when she gave a special equine gift for the BJ Hughes Centre for Clinical Learning.

Galloping Gazette and Research in Print. A round up of equine-focused news and peer-reviewed publications at the WCVM.
